THE FIRST STEP TOWARD A CAREER IN AVIATION

Working as Cabin Crew is much more than just travelling.

A cabin crew member is responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and assistance of passengers during all phases of flight.

Throughout the training, you will learn how to act in emergency situations, provide first aid, fight fires, execute evacuation procedures, and work as part of a team in a demanding and international environment.

Upon successfully completing the course, you will obtain the Cabin Crew Attestation, which allows you to apply to airlines covered by EASA regulations.

CERTIFIED TRAINING

IFA’s training is certified by DGERT.

Upon successfully completing the course, you will obtain the Cabin Crew Attestation, issued by ANAC in accordance with EASA regulations.

This certificate allows you to apply for professional opportunities as cabin crew with airlines covered by these regulations.

IFA also provides students with support in preparing for recruitment processes, including guidance on applications and interviews.

Selection and hiring always depend on the criteria defined by each airline.

HOW DOES THE COURSE IN PORTO WORK?

The in-person day course has a duration of:

3 weeks and 2 days

Classes take place from Monday to Friday, from:

9:30 AM to 6:00 PM

The main training takes place in person in Porto.

The two mandatory days of practical training are held in Lisbon, in partnership with the São Pedro de Sintra Volunteer Fire Department.

Before the course begins, the IFA team will communicate the venue, timetables, and all the necessary information.

The Initial Cabin Crew Course includes:

86 hours of theoretical training

15 hours of practical training

Throughout the course, you will develop essential knowledge and skills to work as Cabin Crew.

PRACTICAL TRAINING FOR REAL SITUATIONS

First aid
You will learn how to provide assistance in medical situations and how to perform Basic Life Support procedures.
Firefighting
You will carry out practical firefighting training, one of the essential components of emergency procedures.
Aquatic survival
The course includes pool training, where you will practice water survival procedures.
Emergency evacuation
You will perform evacuation drills in an aircraft cabin mock-up, including door operation and the application of proper procedures in emergency situations.

ACCESS REQUIREMENTS

To take the course, you must meet the following requirements:
Minimum age

You can start the course at 17 years old, as long as you turn 18 by the end of the training.

There is no maximum age to take the course.

Education
You must have completed secondary education — 12th grade, equivalent, or higher.
English
You must have at least a B1 level of English.The course is taught in Portuguese, but the manual, tests, and aeronautical terminology are in English.You do not need to provide an English certificate.
Swimming

It is mandatory to know how to swim and be able to cover 50 metres without assistance and without a life jacket.

If you do not yet know how to swim or do not feel prepared to meet this requirement, you can take swimming lessons at a municipal pool or contact the fire department in your area before the course begins.

Medical examination

You are not required to undergo medical examinations to take the course.

However, after obtaining your Cabin Crew Attestation, airlines typically require a medical certificate issued by an Aeronautical Medical Centre as part of the recruitment process.
