The idea underlying this protocol is to have an offer of courses with a great professional market output, which will hapen  with the Aeronautical Maintenance Technician and Airline Pilot courses by complementing them with a Bachelor’s degree. According to José Madeira, CEO of IFA’s group, “we are living at a time when it is increasingly necessary to complete technical training with a degree and an academic degree.  The Airline Pilot or Aircraft Maintenance Technician courses are very demanding and complete, so it is sometimes a pity that they are not tied to an academic degree that further extends the students’ professional options in an area with numerous opportunities, but where there is strong professional competition.”

ISEC Lisboa is a natural partner thanks to its strong tradition in the aeronautical environment having been pioneer in Portugal in the degrees in Aeronautical Sciences. José Madeira added “the work with ISEC Lisbon management team was always very easy and proactive. Today, the protocol signing was a constant overcoming of barriers, complex by nature but overcomed, when working focused and a with a common goal .”

This association aims at national and international students training. Air transport is becoming increasingly accessible and, as such, increasingly sought after, the sector having grown by approximately 6% per year over the past 30 years. This evolution is constant and results in the exponential demand of professionals are these Pilots or Maintenance Technicians. Also according to José Madeira “this agreement fits perfectly in IFA’s strategy for the national and international market. We believe that the strong demand for professionals is a worldwide phenomenon and that the technical and academic skills of the professionals will follow the trend of other industries where these skills continue to grow.”

The IFA has a very wide range of courses. The IFA is the only EASA certified school (ATO) in Portugal with pilot courses on Airbus A320, Boeing 737, Boeing 757, Boeing 767, Boeing 777 (triple seven) and ATR 42/72, the so-called type rating qualifications. In addition to these, it also offers the Airline Transport Pilot License course, the Private Pilot License, Cabin Crew and Aircraft Maintenance Technician. All these courses are duly certified by ANAC, the National Civil Aviation Authority.
