Safety and Emergency Procedures

The Safety and Emergency Procedures (SEP) course is a mandatory requirement for all pilots and cabin crew. The course is designed to all crew members with the focus on their behavior and guidance of passengers in emergency situations.

Course Description

The course has theoretical lectures in the classroom and practical training in specific facilities for water drill, fire and smoke hands-on training. All safety and emergency procedures will be covered in a tailor-made course for each aircraft type.

The course aims to give proficiency on the handling of:

  • Doors and Slides
  • Breathing masks, smoke hoods
  • Live rafts and survival kits
  • Lifejackets and other floating devices
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Fire axe and crowbars
  • Emergency lighting and torch
  • Megafone
  • Hand Flares and emergency flashlights
  • First aid kit and emergency medical equipment
  • Other emergency equipment aircraft specific.

Initial Course

  • Theoretical instruction: 07h
  • Practical Training: 03h (Water drill, firefighting and smoke drill)

    • Definition of emergency
    • Emergency Briefing
    • Life jackets
    • Breathing equipment
    • Effects of smoking in closed areas
    • Hypoxia
    • Location and use of all emergency equipment on board
    • Equipment for fire fighting
    • Safety Procedures
    • Lopa
    • Emergency exits, slide rafts
    • Handling of very lights
    • Survival in the sea, polar regions, desert and jungle.
    • Ditching procedures
  • DAY 2 – Only for the Initial Course

    • Fire fighting
    • Orientation in a smoke environment
    • Water drill

Be qualified as pilot or cabin crew in commercial aircraft.
